The Beginning...
For the past several years of my life I have received countless phone calls, letters, faxes, posted notes, memos, morse code messages, homing pigeons, smoke signals, flares, those cool planes that drag messages behind them and fly over the beach, and emails from people all over the world asking me NOT to ever, under any circumstances, create a blog on the internet.
So as of today I am starting a blog on the internet.
The first thing you have to do when creating a blog is think of a clever name that will grab people's attention and sum up what your life is all about. This is YOUR blog and YOUR life and you don't want to send mixed signals to any of your potential readers. Therefore the title is of the utmost importance. It is for that reason that I spent almost 4 seconds coming up with mine.
WHY NOT?
Its the perfect title really. Its the reason I decided to start writing a blog. Its the reason I decided my first job out of college should be living and teaching in Japan. Its the reason I order meat and cheese only on my hamburgers. Its the reason for much of what I do on a daily basis and thats what I want this blog to be about.
So kick back and relax and be sure and add this page to your favorites list as I intend to post my thoughts, my pictures, and talk about my experiences here in Japan in a special section entitled "Why Not?" where I retell odd things I have done here and my reason for trying them.
Trial #1
Thanks to a terrific haul from Old Saint Nick this year, I now have a new digital camera and put it to work yesterday as the first big snow of the year hit. This is the view from my back window.

Caleb,
Love the blog! Great idea, sounds challenging! God is surely using this experience in your life to teach you many things?
What do you miss about home the most?
On our way to Cambodia we have a 5 hour lay-over in Singapore. Wish we could see you. You are in our prayers always. Tony and Linda
